Ashwaganda Moon Milk

Ashwaganda Moon Milk

What is moon milk?

In Ayurveda—one of the oldest systems of natural healing—warm milk is a common remedy for sleeplessness. In this recipe, ashwagandha is paired with the warm milk, along with other nourishing herbs like lavender, to promote stress relief and relaxation. Perfect for bedtime!

What is ashwagandha?

Ashwagandha is a plant native to India. The root of this plant is ground into a powder and used as a supplement. In Ayurveda, ashwagandha is often used as an adaptogen, helping to relieve stress.

What kind of milk should I use?

Traditionally, cow’s milk is used. However, any other plant-based milk may be substituted.

INGREDIENTS:

Raw ingredients for a moon milk latte: dried lavender flowers, raw ashwagandha root powder, and korintje cinnamon sticks.

DIRECTIONS

1. In a small bowl, combine ashwagandha, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, lavender, and rose petals.

2. Heat milk in a small saucepan on the stove over medium heat, until steaming. Add the cinnamon stick, vanilla, maple syrup, and blend of spices. Stir to combine; let steep for about 5 minutes over low heat.

3. Strain the mixture to remove lavender buds, cinnamon stick, and rose petals. Using an electric frother/whisk, froth the milk until foamy. Transfer to a mug; garnish with cinnamon, if desired. Sweet dreams!
